This custom residential mural in San Diego for Mira Bella Apartments was a quick, fun project that makes a bold first impression for anyone coming and going through the space. Located at the base of the elevator bank near the parking garage entrance, the mural was designed to bring energy, color, and a sense of place into a previously underutilized area.
The luxury Mira Bella apartment complex in San Diego, CA was looking for a way to liven up the interior and create a more welcoming environment for residents and guests. This project came through a collaboration with our friend Janie, owner of Betty Larkin Studio. Originally working with Mira Bella, Janie brought us in to help execute a concept that leaned more representational than abstract while still maintaining a clean, elevated aesthetic.
Using a curated color palette provided by the client, we developed a custom mural design that blends multiple San Diego landscapes into one cohesive composition. The goal was to create something that feels locally inspired while still modern and timeless — a piece that enhances the space without overwhelming it.
The wall, which was previously painted a flat red, was completely transformed using calming tones and layered visual elements that now give the space depth, movement, and identity. This type of custom wall mural is a great example of how thoughtful design can elevate shared residential environments and create a more engaging experience for residents.
