Hand-Painted Exterior Signage for One Of Us – North Park, San Diego

If you’ve spent any time in North Park, San Diego, you know it’s one of the most vibrant, creative neighborhoods in the city—so when a new women-owned sports bar takes over a major corner, it deserves signage that actually stands out.

That’s exactly what we set out to do with the new exterior signage for One Of Us, an upcoming women-owned sports bar that’s already generating buzz before opening its doors. Make sure to give them a follow on social!

Supporting Women-Owned Businesses Through Art

One of my favorite parts of being a San Diego mural artist is collaborating with other women-owned businesses. There’s something especially meaningful about helping bring another woman’s vision to life…especially in a space that’s traditionally been male-dominated, like sports bars.

One Of Us is doing something different. They’re creating a space that feels inclusive, bold, and community-driven—and their branding reflects that energy perfectly.

When they approached me to hand paint their exterior signage, I was all in.

A High-Visibility Signage Project in North Park

This wasn’t just any wall. It’s a huge, highly visible corner location in North Park, meaning the signage needed to:

  • Be bold and readable from a distance

  • Match their already strong brand identity

  • Hold its own in a busy, high-traffic area

The team at One Of Us provided the artwork, and my role was to translate that design into a clean, high-impact hand-painted sign that would elevate the entire exterior.

From Digital Design to Hand-Painted Reality

To bring the design onto the wall accurately and efficiently, I used a process that blends tech with traditional sign painting:

  • VR layout tools to visualize placement and scale

  • Chalk to map out the design directly on the wall

  • Careful, layered hand painting for a crisp, durable finish

I brought on Allison Hunsley for this one, and together we were able to move quickly while keeping everything precise.

A Fast-Paced Two-Day Sign Painting Project

This was a relatively quick turnaround. We completed the entire exterior signage in just two days.

The biggest challenge? Not the painting, but the logistics. We ran into some issues with the scissor lift, which made getting up and down the wall more complicated than expected. Once that was sorted, though, the rest of the project went smoothly.

And honestly, there’s something really fun about painting out on a busy North Park street—people walking by, stopping to watch, asking questions. It adds a whole different energy to the work.

Why Hand-Painted Signage Still Matters

In a world of vinyl wraps and printed graphics, hand-painted signage stands out in a completely different way. It adds:

  • Character and authenticity

  • A custom, one-of-a-kind feel

  • Long-lasting durability when done correctly

For a brand like One Of Us—with such a strong identity—it was the perfect choice.

Pricing for Custom Sign Painting Projects

For exterior signage and hand-painted lettering projects, I typically charge around:

→ $20 per square foot
(Pricing may vary depending on complexity, detail, and wall conditions.)

If you’re thinking about a project, the best next step is simple:

  • Send over photos of your wall

  • Include rough dimensions

  • Share any design ideas or artwork

From there, we can talk through scope, timeline, and what makes the most sense for your space.

A New Landmark in North Park

I’m genuinely excited to see One Of Us open. It’s going to be such a cool addition to North Park. The branding, the concept, the energy behind it…it all feels like something special! Being part of that, even just through the signage, is why I love what I do.
